DESCRIPTION:
Xylometazoline is an imidazole derivative that is designed to mimic the molecular shape of adrenaline. Xylometazoline is a drug that is used as a topical nasal decongestant. It is applied directly into the nose, either as a spray or as drops.

MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Xylometazoline works by acting on alpha receptors that are found in the walls of blood vessels in the linings of the nasal passages and sinuses. It causes these blood vessels to contract and narrow, thereby decreasing blood flow into the linings of the nose and sinuses. This reduces swelling and the feeling of congestion. It also reduces the production of mucus, helping to relieve a blocked nose.
INDICATIONS:
Nasal congestion is associated with colds, flu, sinusitis and nasal allergies (allergic rhinitis).
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity, narrow-angle glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Rebound congestion, oropharyngeal dryness, insomnia, sneezing, blurred vision.
ADMINISTRATION:
Instil the stated dose into each nostril with the head tilted backwards. Do not use for more than 7days as a rebound effect or tolerance to the medication may occur.
DOSAGE:
As directed by the physician.
DIRECTIONS:
Use the solution within one month after opening the container.

2. Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface as this may contaminate the solution.

Store in a cool, dry place. Protect from light.
