DESCRIPTION:
KETOMAC PLUS CREAM, contains the broad-spectrum synthetic antifungal agent, Ketoconazole 2%. Ketoconazole is an imidazole antifungal agent.

COMPOSITION:

MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Ketoconazole kills fungi and yeasts by interfering with their cell membranes. It works by impairing the synthesis of ergosterol, which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. The disruption in the production of ergosterol causes holes to appear in the fungal cell membrane. The cell membrane of fungi is vital for their survival. They keep unwanted substances from entering the cells and stop the contents of the cells from leaking out. As ketoconazole causes holes to appear in the cell membranes, essential constituents of the fungal cells leak out. This kills the fungi and clears up the infection. Beclomethasone, a corticosteroid (cortisone-like medicine or steroid), is used to help relieve redness, swelling, itching, and another discomfort of fungus infections.

INDICATIONS:
Ketomac plus Cream is an antifungal medication that prevents fungus from growing on the skin. It is used to treat fungal and yeast infections of the skin. It is indicated for the topical treatment of cutaneous candidiasis caused by candida spp. It is used to treat Ringworm (tinea corporis), jock itch (tinea cruris), athletes’ foot (tinea pedis) and dry, flaking skin, inflammatory skin conditions with greasy, red and scaly areas (seborrheic dermatitis).

HOW TO USE:
Clean and thoroughly dry the area to be treated. Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected skin. Apply enough medication to cover the affected skin and some of the surrounding skin. Do not wrap, cover or bandage over the treated skin unless directed to do so by your doctor. Wait at least 20 minutes after applying for this medicine before you use cosmetics or sunscreen on the treated skin area. Do not wash the treated skin for at least 3 hours after applying Ketomac cream. Use only once or twice a day or as directed by your doctor. This medicine is usually used for only 2 to 4 weeks.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Ketomac plus Cream is contraindicated in persons who have hypersensitivity to the active or excipient ingredients of this formulation.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Stinging, Swelling, irritation, or redness of the treated skin may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify the physician promptly.

PRECAUTIONS:
Avoid covering treated skin areas with tight-fitting, synthetic clothing that doesn’t allow air to circulate to the skin. If treating feet, wear clean cotton socks and sandals or shoes that allow for air circulation. Keep feet as dry. Do not use other medicated skin products unless prescribed by a Physician.

STORAGE:
Keep in a cool place, protect from light. Do not freeze.
