MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Ambroxol facilitates mucociliary clearance by intensifying the motion of the cilia present on the ciliated respiratory epithelium. Cetirizine competes with histamine for binding at H1-receptor sites on the effector cell surface, resulting in suppression of histaminic edema, flare, and pruritus. It crosses the blood-brain barrier only slightly, reducing the sedative side-effect common with older antihistamines.
