Each 15ml contains:
Mechanism of Action: Ferrous gluconate is orally ingested and enters the digestive system. In the acidic environment of the stomach, it undergoes dissolution, releasing ferrous ions (Fe2+). The ferrous ions are then absorbed in the small intestine and converted to the ferric state (Fe3+), which is the form of iron that can be utilized by the body. The absorbed iron is then transported in the bloodstream, primarily bound to transferrin, a transport protein. Iron is a crucial component of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells responsible for transporting oxygen. Within the bone marrow, iron is incorporated into protoporphyrin to form heme, which is then combined with globin chains to produce hemoglobin. The newly synthesized hemoglobin is utilized in the formation of red blood cells (erythropoiesis). Ferrous gluconate supports hemoglobin synthesis and red blood cell production, addressing iron-deficiency anemia by improving oxygen transport in the body. Calcium gluconate provides a supplemental source of calcium, crucial for bone health, muscle function, and nerve transmission, contributing to overall skeletal and physiological well-being. Folic acid is essential for DNA synthesis and cell division. Folic acid is particularly important during periods of rapid growth and development. It supports the formation of red blood cells and is crucial for the prevention of neural tube defects during pregnancy. Cyanocobalamin a vital vitamin B12 that plays a key role in the synthesis of DNA, red blood cell formation, and maintenance of the nervous system. Cyanocobalamin is especially important for individuals with B12 deficiency, which can lead to anemia and neurological issues. Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol, and often used as a sweetening agent. Some studies also suggest that sorbitol improves iron absorption in man.
