DESCRIPTION:
ALKATOR SYRUP: Disodium Hydrogen Citrate is a medicine that contains Disodium hydrogen citrate. It is mainly used for the treatment of urinary tract infections, painful or difficult urination, kidney stones, urinary acidosis and gout.

MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Disodium hydrogen citrate is metabolized to bicarbonates, which increase urinary pH by increasing the excretion of free bicarbonate ions, without producing systemic alkalosis when administered in recommended doses. A rise in urinary pH increases the solubility of cystine in the urine and the ionization of uric acid to more soluble urate ion. By maintaining an alkaline urine, the actual dissolution of uric acid stones may be accomplished.INDICATIONS:
It is used in the treatment of urinary tract infection, kidney stones.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Kidney Dysfunction, High Blood Pressure, Fluid accumulation in the body.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Nausea, vomiting, Diarrhoea, Tiredness

As directed by the physician.
PRECAUTIONS:
Disodium Hydrogen Citrate Syrup should not be used in:
Allergy to any of its components
Patients with moderate to severe renal dysfunction (kidney disease)
Dehydrated patients
Patients with high potassium levels
