Mechanism of Action: Febuxostat is a non-purine xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor. Febuxostat works by inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which is involved in the production of uric acid. By blocking this enzyme, febuxostat reduces the formation of uric acid, thereby lowering its levels in the blood and preventing the formation of urate crystals, which are responsible for conditions like gout.
Indications: Febutor-80 tablet is used for the management of chronic hyperuricemia in adults with gout who have an inadequate response or intolerance to allopurinol.
