FERIMAC INJECTION

Description: Ferimac Injection is an iron replacement product, a complex of polynuclear iron (III)-hydroxide in sucrose for intravenous use. It is used to treat iron deficiency anemia.

Composition:

Each 5 ml ampoule contains:

Ferric Hydroxide in Complex with Sucrose equivalent to elemental Iron                         100 mg

Water for Injections IP                                                                                                       q.s.

Mechanism of Action: Ferimac Injection is an aqueous complex of poly-nuclear iron (III)-hydroxide in sucrose. Following intravenous administration, it is dissociated into iron and sucrose and the iron is transported as a complex with transferrin to target cells including erythroid precursor cells. The iron in the precursor cells is incorporated into haemoglobin as the cells mature into red blood cells.

Indications: Ferimac Injection is indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Dosage: As directed by the physician.

Side effects: The most common side effects: Headache, Respiratory tract viral infection, Peritonitis, Vomiting, Pyrexia, Dizziness, Cough, Nausea, Arteriovenous Fistula thrombosis, Hypotension, Hypertension 

Contraindications: Ferimac Injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

Drug interactions: Ferimac Injection may reduce the absorption of concomitantly administered oral iron preparations.

Storage: Store at controlled room temperature. Do not freeze.
