Product Description

Description: Merotorque 1 is sterile, semisynthetic, broad-spectrum carbepenem antibiotic for intravenous or intramuscular administration which is reserved drug for pneumonia and nosocomial pneumonia used to treat UTI, lower, meningitis, abdominal infections, etc.

Pharmaceutical Dosage Form: Dry Injection

Route of Administration: Intravenous & Intramuscular

Composition: Each vial contains:

Meropenem (Sterile) IP Eq to Meropenem (Anhydrous)              1000 mg

Sodium (As Sodium Carbonate)                                                    90.2 mg

 

Mechanism of Action: Meropenem belongs to the class of antibiotics called carbepenem. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis following attachment to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). This results in the interruption of cell wall (peptidoglycan) biosynthesis, which leads to bacterial cell lysis and death. Meropenem penetrates the cell wall of most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria to bind penicillin-binding protein (PBP) targets laeding to bactericidal activity.

Indications: Merotorque 1 is used to treat Pneumonia and nosocomial pneumonia, Urinary tract infections, Intra-abdominal infections, Gynaecological infections, Skin, skin structure and soft tissue infections, Meningitis, Septicaemia, Empiric treatment for presumed infections with febrile neutropenia

Dosage: As directed by the physician.

Storage: Store at temperature not exceeding 250 Protect from sunlight, heat and moisture.

Contraindications: Merotorque 1 is contraindicated in Patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to the constituent of the formulation, other beta Lactams drugs or any of the excipients, during pregnancy and lactation, in patients with severe hepatic failure or renal impairment or CNS disorder.

Drug Interactions: Merotorque 1 can cause drug interaction with following drugs:

Valproic Acid

Oral anti-coagulants

Probenecid
