Mechanism of Action: Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an orally administered, extended-spectrum, semi-synthetic antibiotic of the cephalosporin class. It is a bactericidal agent that acts by inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis.
Indications: Podotor 200 dispersible tablet is commonly given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections targeting the ears, eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It is also effective in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Dosage: As prescribed by the physician.
Side effects: Nausea, Abdominal pain, Rash, Diarrhoea and Headache.
Contraindications: Podotor 200 dispersible tablet is contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to Cefpodoxime or to the Cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
Drug Interactions: Podotor 200 dispersible tablet can interact with other drugs, potentially affecting their efficacy or increasing the risk of side effects. Some notable drug interactions include – Antacids and H2 blockers, Probenecid, Nephrotoxic drugs, Warfarin and Oral contraceptives.
