MECHANISM OF ACTION:
The appetite-stimulating effect of Cyproheptadine is probably a consequence of serotonin antagonism. It antagonizes the satiety stimulating effects of serotonin on the satiety centre. When the stomach is empty, the sugar level decreases sending signals to the brain activating the appetite centre.
INDICATIONS:
Loss of appetite, allergy & pruritis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the formulation.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
Drowsiness, dry mouth, confusion and ataxia.
DOSAGE:
As prescribed by the physician.
PRECAUTIONS:
It is dangerous to take this medicine except under medical supervision.
May cause drowsiness, do not drive or operate machinery if affected.
STORAGE:
Store in a cool, dark place. Protect from light.
