DESCRIPTION:
Tigesic-MR belongs to a group of medicines called Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID’s) used for the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, acute pain, chronic low back pain and muscle spasms. Pain is a symptom triggered by the nervous system, causing uncomfortable sensations in the body. Muscle spasm is the sudden involuntary contractions of the muscle, which can be painful and uncomfortable.

MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Etoricoxib is a new COX-2 selective inhibitor. That Etoricoxib decreases GI toxicity without effect on platelet function. Etoricoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant, which has been claimed to possess GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric acid). Mimetic and glycinergic actions. It works on the centres in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm and to improve pain and movement of muscles.
INDICATIONS:
Used for the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout and ankylosing spondylitis, acute pain, chronic low back pain and muscle spasms.
ADVERSE EFFECTS:
Flatulence, Indigestion, Stomach pain, Nausea, Diarrhea, Swelling of hands and feet, irregular heartbeat.
WARNING:
This drug should be used with caution in patients suffering from coronary heart disease (CHD)/Cardiovascular disorder.
DOSAGE:
As directed by the physician.
STORAGE:
Store protected from light and moisture at a temperature not exceeding 30o C.
