Mechanism of Action: Torex tablet is a combination of an antihistamine (Chlorpheniramine), a cough suppressant (dextromethorphan) and a decongestant (phenylephrine). Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that contributes to allergy symptoms. By inhibiting histamine, chlorpheniramine reduces the effects of allergic reactions, such as sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that affects the cough center in the brain. It works by decreasing the urge to cough, providing relief from dry or unproductive coughing without causing the sedative effects. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant that works by narrowing the blood vessels in the nasal passages. This constriction reduces swelling and congestion in the nasal tissues, making it easier to breathe. It is commonly used to relieve nasal congestion associated with conditions like the common cold or allergies. Together, these three components in a combination medication aim to address multiple symptoms associated with coughs and colds, including allergy-related symptoms, coughing, and nasal congestion.
