Product Description
Description: Amtorque AT Tablets contain Amlodipine a calcium channel blocker, selective calcium channel blockers with mainly vascular effects and Atenolol, a beta-blocker which is beta1-selective, acts preferentially on beta1-adrenergic receptors in the heart.
Pharmaceutical Dosage Form: Tablet
Route of Administration: Oral
Composition:
Each uncoated tablet contains:
Amlodipine Besilate IP
Eq. to Amlodipine 5 mg
Atenolol IP 50 mg
Excipients q.s.
Mechanism of Action: The mechanism of the antihypertensive action of amlodipine is due to a direct relaxant effect on vascular smooth muscle. The precise mechanism by which amlodipine relieves angina has not been fully determined but amlodipine reduces total ischemic burden by the following two actions. Amlodipine dilates peripheral arterioles and thus, reduces the total peripheral resistance (afterload) against which the heart works. The mechanism of action of amlodipine also probably involves dilatation of the main coronary arteries and coronary arterioles, both in normal and ischemic regions. This dilatation increases myocardial oxygen delivery in patients with coronary artery spasm (Prinzmetal’s or variant angina). Atenolol reduces cardiac rate and contractility which makes it effective in eliminating or reducing the symptoms of patients with angina.
Indications: Amtorque AT Tablet is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension
and all grades of angina, unresponsive to Atenolol or Amlodipine monotherapy.
