CIPROMAC-D EYE/EAR DROPS

Description: Cipromac-D eye/ear drops is a combination of an antibiotic (ciprofloxacin) and a corticosteroid (dexamethasone) medication used to treat bacterial infections and reduce inflammation in the eyes or ears. The antibiotic inhibits bacterial growth, while the corticosteroid alleviates swelling, redness, and discomfort associated with inflammation. This combination is commonly used to manage conditions such as bacterial conjunctivitis or otitis externa, providing a dual-action approach for effective treatment.

Dosage Form: Eye/Ear Drops

Route of Administration: Ocular/Otic

Composition:

Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride (eq. to Ciprofloxacin)        I.P.          0.3% w/v

Mechanism of Action: Ciprofloxacin inhibits bacterial growth by targeting DNA gyrase, an essential enzyme involved in DNA replication, thereby disrupting bacterial DNA synthesis and exerting a bactericidal effect. Dexamethasone, a corticosteroid, exerts its mode of action by suppressing inflammation and immune responses through the inhibition of pro-inflammatory mediators, such as cytokines and prostaglandins, leading to anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects.
