CYLIP-P SYRUP

Description: Cylip-P syrup combines cyproheptadine, an antihistamine with appetite-stimulating properties, and tricholine citrate, a compound supporting liver function. This formulation is often prescribed to address conditions involving appetite loss and to aid liver health, providing a comprehensive solution for individuals experiencing nutritional deficiencies or liver-related issues.

Dosage Form: Syrup

Route of Administration: Oral

Composition: Each 5ml contains:

Cyproheptadine Hydrochloride (Anhydrous)            I.P.                   2mg

Tricholine Citrate                                                                               0.275mg

Flavoured Nonsyrupy Base                                                                q.s.

Mechanism of Action: Cyproheptadine is a potent competitive antagonist of both serotonin and histamine receptors. It acts by blocking histamine and serotonin receptors. It alleviates allergic symptoms by inhibiting the effects of histamine, and its blockage of serotonin receptors, particularly 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C, contributes to appetite stimulation. The antagonism of serotonin receptors, particularly the 5-HT2C subtype, is thought to increase appetite. By blocking these receptors, cyproheptadine may enhance the desire for food and contribute to weight gain. Tricoline citrate promotes the secretion of bile from the liver. This supports digestion by aiding in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fats. Additionally, tricoline citrate contributes to liver function, facilitating detoxification processes and promoting overall digestive health.

Indications: Cylip-P syrup is indicated for loss of appetite, weight loss and anorexia nervosa (an eating disorder with low body weight). Cylip-P syrup is also prescribed for underweight children who have an inadequate dietary intake, loss of appetite, anaemia, liver or digestive disorder. Additionally, Cylip-P syrup is also used as an adjunct to anti-tubercular (anti-TB) and antiretroviral treatment (anti-HIV) for weight gain.

Dosage: As prescribed by the physician.
