FLUKONAZOLE-150 TABLETS

Description: Flukonazole-150 tablet is a systemic antifungal medication that works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, and it is used to treat a variety of fungal infections, including candidiasis.

Dosage Form: Tablet

Route of Administration: Oral

Composition:  Each uncoated tablet contains:

Fluconazole                        I.P.           150mg

Excipients                                            q.s.

Mechanism of Action: Fluconazole exerts its antifungal effects by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, which is essential for the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol—a crucial component of fungal cell membranes. By blocking this step in the ergosterol biosynthesis pathway, fluconazole disrupts the integrity of the fungal cell membrane, leading to increased permeability and impaired function. This interference with membrane synthesis ultimately results in the inhibition of fungal growth and replication.
