Flavoured Syrupy base q.s.
DESCRIPTION: Neoton syrup is used in the prevention of the symptoms of allergic conditions such as rhinitis
and urticaria. It mainly contains chlorpheniramine which is part of a series of antihistamines including phenamine
MECHANISM OF ACTION: chlorpheniramine is in a class of medications called antihistamines. It works by
blocking the actions of histamine; a substance in a body that causes allergic symptoms.
PHARMACOKINETICS:
Absorption: Readily absorbed
Distribution: 72% protein bound
Metabolism: Metabolized predominantly in the liver, but also in the lung and kidneys.
Elimination: Renally eliminated, mostly as metabolites within 24h.
INDICATIONS: The medicine is used to treat allergy, hay fever, the common cold, allergic conjunctivitis,
vasomotor rhinitis.
The symptoms in which the medicine can be used are:
• Watery eyes
• Itchy eyes
• Itchy nose/throat /skin
• Rash
• Cough
• Sneezing
• Running nose
DOSAGE:
As directed by the Physician.
SIDE EFFECTS: CNS stimulation (including insomnia, hallucination, tremors, convulsions), blurred vision,
dizziness, ataxia, hypotension
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity to antihistamines, narrow-angle glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer,
symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy, asthmatic attack, bladder neck obstruction, pyloroduodenal obstruction
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Alcohol, CNS depressants, and tricyclic antidepressants.
May cause additive CNS depressant effects.
MAOIs May increase anticholinergic effect of chlorpheniramine.
STORAGE: Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children
