MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Nimesulide is an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase so it inhibits the synthesis of destructive prostaglandins and spares cytoprotective prostaglandins. Nimesulide appears to exert its effects also through a variety of other mechanisms and involves interference with the production action of mediators other than prostaglandins such as enzymes, toxic oxygen derivatives, cytokines, platelet-activating factors and histamine.
INDICATIONS:
Pain, sprains, dental pain, post-surgical pain.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Nausea, epigastric pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, heartburn, dizziness and skin rashes.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity, active peptic ulcer disease, asthma, moderate to severe hepatic impairment.
WARNING:
Use of Nimesulide should ordinarily be restricted to 10 days. If longer clinical use is warranted, liver function tests should be assessed periodically.

As directed by the physician.
