DESCRIPTION:
Ondansetron is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. It is in both the imidazole and carbazole families of heterocyclic compounds.

MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Ondansetron reduces the activity of the vagus nerve, which deactivates the vomiting center in the medulla oblongata and blocks serotonin receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone. It has little effect on vomiting caused by motion sickness and does not affect dopamine or muscarinic receptors.
INDICATIONS:
It is used alone or with other medications to prevent chemotherapy-induced and post-radiation nausea and vomiting (CINV & RINV) & also to control postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the product.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
This drug should not be used with apomorphine because a severe interaction may occur.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
Headache, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, or constipation may occur.
DOSAGE:
As directed by the physician.
STORAGE:
Store in a cool, dark & dry place.
