5. Mechanism of Action: Diclofenac sodium is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-pyretic activity. It’s primarily inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX). COX is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are substances in the body that mediate inflammation, pain, and fever. By inhibiting COX, diclofenac sodium reduces the production of prostaglandins, thereby mitigating inflammation, relieving pain, and lowering fever. This anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect makes diclofenac sodium commonly used in the treatment of conditions such as arthritis, musculoskeletal pain, and inflammatory disorders. Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic drug that is used to relieve mild-to-moderate pain and fever. Chlorzoxazone is an analgesic belonging to the class skeletal muscle relaxant. It inhibits degranulation of mast cells, subsequently preventing the release of histamine and slow reacting substance of anaphylaxis (SRS-A), mediator of type I allergic reactions. It also may reduce the release of inflammatory leukotrienes. It may act by inhibiting calcium and potassium influx which would lead to neuronal inhibition and muscle relaxation.
