PARACETAMOL ORAL SUSPENSION BP
COMPOSITION:
Each 5 ml contains:
Paracetamol BP 125 mg
In a flavoured syrup base q.s.
Colour: Carmoisine & Caramel
DESCRIPTION: Paracetamol is a Para-a-aminophenol derivative, produces antipyresis by acting on the hypothalamic heat regulating center and analgesia by elevating the pain threshold.
MECHANISM OF ACTION: Paracetamol works by blocking the action of a substance in the body called cyclooxygenase. Cyclo-oxygenase is involved in the production of prostaglandins (chemicals in the body) which cause pain, swelling and inflammation.
INDICATIONS: Fever, toothache, bodyache, headache & common cold.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Contraindicated in patients with severe ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding and
hypersensitivity.
SIDE-EFFECTS: Diarrhoea, nausea, indigestion, abdominal pain, dizziness and rash.
DOSAGE:
Below 4 years: As directed by the Physician.
5 to 12 years: 2 to 4 teaspoonfuls, 3-4 times a day.
PRECAUTIONS: Overdosage of paracetamolmay be injurious to liver.
STORAGE: Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children.
