SENSOSEAL GUM PAINT

DESCRIPTION: A topical solution that contains antiseptic agents combined with tanning agents. It is applied locally on gums in severe bacterial infections and inflammatory conditions. PACKING: 160x18ml

COMPOSITION:

Iodine	I.P	1 g
Potassium Iodide	I.P.	2 g
Thymol	I.P.	0.25% w/v
Menthol	I.P.	0.25% w/v
Camphor	I.P.	0.20% w/v
Tannic Acid	I.P.	1.50 g
Glycerin	I.P.	70% w/w
Purified water		q.s.

MECHANISM OF ACTION: Iodine acts as an antiseptic and anti-infective. Iodine has a powerful bactericidal action, quickly gets to work killing bacteria and viruses. Tannic acid acts as an astringent for the mucous membrane of the mouth. It forms a film of protein ‘tannate’ that acts as mechanical protective. Menthol acts as a local analgesic and gives the sensation of coolness which gives some relief from the pain. Camphor acts as mild analgesic. Thymol is a phenolic compound with antiseptic and antibacterial properties. INDICATIONS: Indicated in the treatment of painful gum disorders, inflamed and bleeding gums, teething pain and irritation, stomatitis (inflammation of the mucous lining of the mouth). PRECAUTIONS: Do not rinse with water or eat/drink anything for 10 minutes after the application of gum paint. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Apply with a cotton applicator for two or three minutes to the affected area. DOSAGE: As prescribed by the physician. STORAGE: Store in a cool and dry place.
