DESCRIPTION: Spas M Tablets contain drotaverine and mefenamic acid, which work together to relieve abdominal spasms and pain. Drotaverine relaxes smooth muscles, while mefenamic acid reduces pain and inflammation for fast and effective relief.

COMPOSITION: Each film-coated tablet contains: Drotaverine Hydrochloride IP 80 mg, Mefenamic Acid IP 250 mg, Excipients q.s. Colours: Titanium Dioxide IP
MECHANISM OF ACTION: Drotaverine relaxes smooth muscles by inhibiting phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE-4), which reduces muscle spasms and provides relief from abdominal pain. This action increases intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels, which in turn reduces calcium uptake by the cells, leading to smooth muscle relaxation. Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It works by blocking the cyclo-oxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation at the site of injury or damage.
INDICATIONS: Spas M Tablet is used for the treatment of symptomatic relief of pain in conditions like: Primary & secondary dysmenorrhea, Renal colic, biliary colic, gastrointestinal colic, etc.
DOSAGE: As directed by the Physician.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, heartburn, indigestion, and dry mouth.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Spas M Tablet is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients of the drug.
STORAGE: Store protected from light at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep the medicine out of reach of children.
